Leaving Germany? Read this first.

Shares can be taxed when you leave. If you hold a share in a company and give up your residence in Germany, Germany can tax the gain on those shares as if you had sold them (exit taxation, § 6 AStG). Since 2022 this applies to moves within the EU too; the tax can be paid in instalments.

Ties to Germany can keep you liable for tax there. You can remain fully liable for tax in Germany even after registering here. This can happen if you keep a home available to you in Germany or spend over half the year there.

Plan it before the move, not after. Talk to an accountant before you give up your German address. We'll introduce you to accountants we trust.

  2. Before you fly.

    A place to live
We look for a flat or house with you so you have somewhere to go when you arrive.
    Lawyer and accountant
If you need a lawyer or accountant before or after the move, we'll introduce you to people we trust.
  3. The first weeks.

    Registration
As an EU citizen staying longer than three months, you register your residence. We help you prepare the paperwork and arrange the appointment.
    Tax number and social insurance
The numbers you need before you can work, be paid or send an invoice.
    Everyday life
A bank account, a phone contract, a car and insurance, so you don't spend your first weeks running errands.

We made the mistakes first.

Noel moved here in January 2026. He started with the wrong lawyers, then a bad tax adviser took advantage of him.

That's how we got to know the right people, and why you meet them from day one.

Sometimes an introduction is all you need. We put you in touch with someone we trust and leave it at that.

What are your plans?

Write a few lines in English or German. Whatever you need, we'll do what we can to make it work. We quote each job on its own. Sometimes introductions and help cost nothing, for example when you come to work for us.
